Hidden Gem in Plant City Florida

12 Oct

A good friend of mine attended a wedding over the weekend and told me I have to check the venue out. So I looked it up online at www.gigiscountrygarden.com. It is as cute in person as it is in pictures. It is a little rustic garden. The rates are super reasonable too! I have not personally attended a wedding at this venue but I trust my friend 100% and she said it was amazing! So if you are looking for a hidden gem of a location for a rustic outdoor wedding I recommend looking into Gigi’s County Garden in Plant City!

Make it memorable

26 Sep

A few weeks ago I was approached to help someone create a memorable event. A good friend of the family, Charles, was ready to pop the big question to his girlfriend and wanted to make sure he did everything right to make the moment special. After talking with him we decided that he really wanted to capture this special moment and remember it always! So I got in touch with my good friend and photographer Nicole, from Nicole Elizabeth Photography. We hired Nicole to take some “couples” pictures. Nicole worked with Charles and they came up with a plan to turn this session into an engagement photo shoot! I am happy to say she was completely surprised and Nicole was right there to capture that special moment. Check out some of the pictures at http://nicelizabethphotography.wordpress.com/2011/09/25/rebecca-charles-sneek-peek/

Thank you Nicole for making this a special day and for making it memorable!

Congratulations Rebecca and Charles! I can’t wait for the big event!

Phineas and Ferb Birthday

8 Sep

I am not sure what happened but for some reason my son’s Phineas and Ferb party is missing from this blog so I decided to re-post it.

Back in April my son turned 5 years old and he decided he wanted a Phineas and Ferb party with a Spiderman cake. What can I say he is a boy who knows what he wants!

Since Phineas and Ferb are so creative we decided to put our own spin on the party and make it a Phineas and Ferb science party.  I hired a company Mad Science of Tampa Bay to come out and do a demonstration.  They were absolutely amazing. They kept the kids attention and even made cotton candy with them after the show.  There was a game for the kids to find the garden gnomes since Dr. Doofenshmirtz stole them all. We even had life size pictures of Phineas, Ferb and the whole gang hanging around.

We made lemonade for the party in honor of the Phineas and Ferb’s lemonade stand episode. As far as food was concerned; Joel’s Pizza Palace provided all the food for the parents and kids, and I can say we had no leftovers! Thanks Joel!

The parents and kids had tons of fun and went home with some fun science gifts and some sweet treats!

I have to say all in all it was a successful event!

Lightning McQueen Birthday

1 Feb

This past weekend we had a Lightning McQueen birthday party for my three year old at our home. Guests were welcomed with a sign on the front door “Welcome to Radiator Springs Gateway to Cyrus’s Birthday.” From there they came through the house (which was decorated with red and black streamers) to the backyard, or should I say our Radiator Springs. The yard was decorated with over 100ft of black and white race flags, balloons, bails of straw, oil boxes, orange cones, road signs, 2 bounce houses and 3 cardboard boxes decorated like Lighting McQueen, Chick Hicks and The King. Everything from the decorations to the food screamed a day at the races. We served hotdogs, corndogs, steak sandwiches, popcorn, etc. I even gave the food fun names, like my chocolate dipped pretzel “dip sticks.”

The kids were entertained by running around the yard like race cars, jumping in the bounce houses, and doing art at the craft table where they could paint and decorate their own Lightning McQueen.

How was it done?
Most of the decorations were bought on-line for a discounted price, and I also went to a local auto parts store (“thank you Advantage Auto”) and got free empty oil boxes that we used for decorations. The invitations were made at home with a little help from Photoshop and the cute thank you tags and hanging “3’s” were all made and printed at home on a color printer. Bounce houses came from Wild and Crazy Jumps. Cake was purchased from the local Publix bakery. Cupcakes and cupcake decorations were also homemade. It is amazing what you can do with a computer and printer!

The party was a great success!

I made these on the computer and printed them out on a color printer. Print, cut, whole punch, ribbon, done!

These are brand new gas containers washed out and filled with juices and water.

I got this from a local auto parts store and made a few minor changes to fit the theme.
